Steve Hardcastle
Steve Hardcastle is a Master Mariner. He started out as a River Pilot and has piloted over 2500 vessels of all sizes.
After being a pilot on the Humber for 14 years and working in the US Gulf as Master of a Pipe Laying and construction and diving vessel, Steve undertook a variety of offshore roles, stepping ashore in 2003 to become Assistant Harbour Master of one of the UK's biggest and most diverse ports, the Port of Liverpool.
Steve has acted as a consultant to a number of international port operators and his knowledge of port and maritime relationships is extensive. He has many years' experience of investigating incidents port side, and an in depth knowledge of the paperwork that an accident generates. He has worked abroad on various occasions and has many overseas' contacts in the industry.
Steve joins DGB Solicitors as a consultant to support us in accident investigation. He is well versed in providing a rapid response at unsociable hours and is able to get to the heart of incidents quickly and effectively.
Steve tells us that the largest ship he has ever piloted was 303,000 tonnes, "BERGE LORD". His claim to fame is that he once worked as a stage hand at the Opera House in Blackpool alongside the Nolan Sisters and Mike Yarwood!
